Biography

Dr. Alka Ahuja is working as a Professor of Pharmaceutics at the Deptt. of Pharmacy, Oman Medical College, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman since 2005. She has about 30 years of rich experience in teaching and research. She is a recipient of several Awards and Honors including University Gold Medals for securing top position at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Indian Drugs Manufacturers Association - G.P.Nair Award and “Career Award for young teachers” by All India Council for Technical Education. She has won several awards for best scientific research publications and presentations. Besides publishing 11 books in the fields of Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical management and drug regulatory affairs she has contributed five chapters on drug delivery in internationally acclaimed books. She has more than 160 research publications in peer reviewed journals. Besides supervising 15 Ph. D Thesis, she has guided more than 35 Postgraduate students. She has worked on 10 projects funded by national and international agencies. She also worked on Consultancy projects financed by a Scottish company. She has 6 patents to her credit. Besides being an Invited speaker at several National and International conferences held in India, Oman, US, UK, Holland, Turkey and Dubai etc., she has chaired scientific sessions in several national and international conferences. She established a school of research on Mucoadhesive drug delivery systems and her work has been presented in various international conferences held in India, Paris, SanDiego, Utah, The Netherlands, Scotland, Sydney, Boston, Hawaii, Miami etc. Besides being a member of several editorial boards, she is a reviewer for number of national/international professional journals. She has chaired a number of professional committees including Research committee.
