Biography
Dr. Eid Attia was selected an AAOS International Scholar in 2012 and AAOS International Emerging Leader Scholar in 2016. Eid Attia earned his medical degree and post-graduate orthopaedic training from the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. He had multiple fellowship courses in the universities of Great Britain, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany and Hong Kong. Eid Attia specializes in total joint surgery, knee arthroscopy and hip preservation. He is also well- acquainted with pediatric orthopedic problems, tumor surgery and upper extremity arthroplasty and arthroscopy. Eid Attia is actively engaged in medical research and teaching of residents, medical students and younger colleagues. As a 2016 AAOS International Scholar, Eid Attia attended the 2016 Annual Meeting and the International Scholars Program Alumni meeting, and had observership at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with Dr. Patrick Whitlock. Eid Attia is committed to transferring his newly acquired knowledge, decision making skills, and surgical skills to his junior colleagues. His overarching goal is to advance the level of orthopaedic service and orthopaedic education provided by his department and to improve its research capabilities. He also plans to establish Hip Preservation Surgery, his specialty of late and the main focus of his scholarship visit, as a distinct subgroup under the Egyptian Orthopaedic Association. Eid Attia is a member of Egyptian Orthopaedic Association and an international member of AAOS. He frequently participates in health campaigns to underserved regions in Egypt and other African countries.
